Subject:Looking for hard to find sheet music
Posted by:korepersephone.
Time:10:21 pm.
This community seems pretty active so I thought I would try asking here.

I'm searching for sheet music of the song "One Man" from the musical Seven Brides For Seven Brothers.

I have already checked musicnotes.com and they have some of the other songs from the show but not the song I'm looking for. It doesn't even seem to be in any musical compilation books either.

So I'm just wondering if anyone has it or knows where to find it, I don't even mind buying it from a website if I need to.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Subject:Space Dementia
Posted by:the_klv_kid.
Time:7:50 pm.
Mood: tired.
I have completed page 3 of MUSE's Space Dementia, and have added page and measure numbers to the other two. Here are all three:

Muse's "Space Dementia", page 1, version 2, from album Origin of Symmetry. Muse's "Space Dementia", page 2, version 2, from album Origin of Symmetry. Muse's "Space Dementia", page 3, version 1, from album Origin of Symmetry.

And that's what it all looks like right now.

I'm happy! I've transcribed the first 25 measures! Just a ton more to go!

Yay pizza.

Subject:Page 1 of Muse's "Space Dementia", manual transcription by me
Posted by:the_klv_kid.
Time:3:11 pm.

Page 1 of MUSE's "Space Dementia", transcribed by me.

I just finished this today, after purchasing the right size paper.  I can't guarantee that my work is perfect, so for those of you who actually bought the music, feel free to complain in a comment, but don't bother correcting me.  Giving away my mistakes would ruin the game.  Here's the challenge: when I get done with a bunch of these Muse songs, I'll purchase their work on paper and compare the two to see how much I suck at listening.  That's the plan, and it sure sounds like fun to me.  Who knows how long it'll take, though.  Forever, probably (not really).

Anyway, enjoy.  the dimensions of the original are probably 9 by 12-ish, so it should be relatively easy to read when printed.

Page 2 will be up in... oh, I don't know.  Probably within the next month or week or whatever.  Anyway, I'm unreliable, so don't rely on me.

Tchuss,

Hi!

Does anyone have a copy of Ben Folds - The Luckiest for piano? I was asked to play it in a wedding in a few months and I'd rather not have to shell out for a song I'll only play once. Thanks in advance!

Subject:Transcribing Matisse "Boom Boom Ba"
Posted by:brianswoobie.
Time:7:07 pm.
Hey there, I've been scouring LJ looking for somewhere to ask this, and found this community. Please tell me if I'm not supposed to ask for this here and I'll go.

There is a song by Matisse called "Boom Boom Ba" that has piano parts in it that I think are really pretty, but even after nearly 10 years of playing piano I can't learn by ear for shite. As far as I know, there's no sheet music for it anywhere, (or at least, Google couldn't find it anyway, haha.)

So, does anyone here have any idea of where to find it, or (please!) would someone be willing to transcribe it? I can't really offer any money, but I'm still hoping for the best...

Subject:Which is better?
Posted by:the_klv_kid.
Time:3:16 pm.
I'm trying to handwrite music, and I'm currently debating whether to use pedaling lines or "Ped.      * " to mark sustain pedal.  I think I'll go with the Ped, because straight lines are a pain.  But what's your opinion?  Ped is more old fashioned, and I didn't know what it was the first few times I encountered it in my piano books, specifically my book of Chopin Nocturnes.  That has Peds everywhere, and I'd never seen them before.  So, which do you think is better: the annoying straight lines that everyone knows and is familiar with, or Ped, which is easier to write but less well known?  What do you think?

klv

P.S.  I always used to think it said "Leo" and not "Ped", because it looks like this in reality,

Subject:Handwritten Music List: Tentative
Posted by:the_klv_kid.
Time:7:37 pm.
Mood: happy.
This is a list. The list contains songs or parts of songs that I both like and feel might be transcribeable. The order is by artist, year, and album.
  • Muse - Sunburn (Almost learned already, still going to write it out though)
  • Muse - Space Dementia (Fun!)
  • Muse - Butterflies and Hurricanes (Impossible! Let's do it anyway!)
  • Muse - Endlessly
  • Muse - Ruled by Secrecy
  • Muse - Starlight (Partially learned already)
  • Muse - Uprising (I'm starting over after school gets out this week)
  • Muse - I Belong to You (In progress, might start over)
  • Coldplay - Trouble (Partially learned already)
  • Coldplay - Amsterdam
  • Coldplay - What If
  • Coldplay - 42
  • Coldplay - Death and All His Friends
  • Coldplay - Lost? (I sort of knew it once, but no more)
  • Carole King - I Feel the Earth Move (In progress, might start over)
  • Lady Gaga - Speechless
  • The Last Goodnight - Poison Kiss
  • Billy Joel - New York State of Mind (Impossible! Let's do it anyway!)
  • Billy Joel - The Stranger: Introduction (Complete!)
  • Stephen Schwartz - Corner of the Sky (I already know the easy piano version, now I want the real thing!)
  • Stephen Schwartz - Glory: Interlude (It's too funny. I have to do it! And it doesn't have words! Hooray!)

Some of these are probably impossible to write out, but this is my tentative "to do" list for transcribing stuff, in no particular order. I might find out that I'm not up to several of them, but whatever. I just wish I could sing them all! Those tenors sing too low for me sometimes (I'm an alto).

I only have one more final left! And then I'm out of school and I can do more music stuff!! I got this amazing new pad of staff paper, too, and when I get home I can steal borrow my mom's amazing translucent 6-inch-wide ruler. Yay straight lines! Yay accuracy! Yay new giant score pad! Yay end of school! :D

Anybody looking forward to something I have on the list?  I'd love to hear your thoughts!
